The corrosion resistance of TA9 titanium rods in various corrosive environments!

TA9 is α Titanium alloy has similar process and mechanical properties to industrial pure titanium. When the amount of Pd added to titanium reaches 0.1% -0.2%, the corrosion rate of titanium in sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid significantly decreases, further increasing the Pd content, and the corrosion rate of the alloy remains almost unchanged. However, when the Pd content is below 0.05%, the corrosion rate actually increases. When the acid concentration of titanium alloy rods is low, titanium palladium alloys containing 0.13% Pd have satisfactory corrosion resistance. However, when the acid concentration is high, Ti-0.2Pd has better corrosion resistance, making it more suitable to use Ti-0.2Pd.

The data shows that Ti-0.2Pd has significantly better corrosion resistance than industrial pure titanium in reducing media, and the corrosion resistance of the welding zone of Ti-0.2Pd is the same as that of the base material. Compared with deaerated hydrochloric acid, Ti-0.2Pd exhibits a significant positive shift in stable potential and a 10 fold decrease in corrosion rate. However, in acid solutions filled with argon or nitrogen, the passivation performance of Ti-0.2Pd decreases significantly when the corrosion solution is constantly replaced or the solution volume per unit area of the sample increases. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid adding a small amount of palladium to Ti-0.2Pd.TA9 titanium alloy in the absence of oxygen or oxidants, It improves the corrosion resistance in oxidizing medium, especially the ability to resist Crevice corrosion. Therefore, it is widely used in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid and chloride corrosive media.
